‘Ritz in the Blitz’ themed evening with special guest Michael Quinn MBE

Students at Carlisle College are preparing to host a special themed evening ‘Ritz in the Blitz’. The College Thyme Out Restaurant is fully booked for this special occasion.

Students will be preparing dishes including Monkfish, Duck and Belly Pork.

Special Guest Michael Quinn MBE, former head chef at the five-star Ritz hotel in London will arrive at 5pm to talk to students and watch them prepare the food before having dinner in the Restaurant at 6pm. The students are unaware of this impending visit.

Quinn was the first British chef to hold this top job in the Ritz. He is credited with livening up the menu (including the radical move to write it in English rather than French), creating a new culture in the kitchen and generating a buzz. He turned the Ritz into one of London’s top eateries.

Chef Lecturer Andy Stacey said:
“It is an honour to be visited by a chef of such high esteem as Michael. We haven’t told our students yet, so it will come as somewhat of a surprise for them. The Restaurant is fully booked for what promises to be a wonderful event. I am very much looking forward to welcoming Michael to Carlisle College.”

After dinner Michael will talk to guests and give a short address.
