Course Fees: Free if you are eligible for full funding. £150.00 if you are eligible for co-funding. £516.00 if you are 19 – 24 without a full Level 2 qualification. Our admissions team will contact you following receipt of your application to determine your funding status.
The course is designed to qualify you to become a Forest School assistant, enabling you to take a proactive role in helping a Forest School practitioner plan and deliver a Forest School programme and supporting the children during the programme.
Typically, you will be work in an early year setting, a school or youth workers.
The course will prepare you for working in a Forest Schools setting looking at a variety of skills to support you to do this. You will look at how to manage sessions safely, including use of knives, ropes, shelters, fires, identification of flora and fauna, as well as how to manage risk in a safe manner. The course content will be taught over one week based both in the classroom and suitable forest schools’ settings. After completion of your training, you will be expected to complete a minimum of six sessions with a qualified forest schools’ leader during your consolidation period you will continue to work on your work book in preparation for a final assessment.

Extra Studies:You may need to apply for a DBS as part of your placement.
Practical and Theory Based in the classroom and suitable forest school’s environment. Consolidation working with a Forest School Leader
Work Book and Practical Observation.

- This includes an organised work placement working with a forest schools’ leader on a forest schools programme.
