Intermediate (Level 2)
As an Apprentice in Property Maintenance Operations with Carlisle College, you will be trained with the knowledge to optimise a property’s condition, ensuring that the building is a safe working environment. Property Maintenance Operatives need to maintain a high level of quality, providing the best satisfaction for their customers, clients, guests and team. They will understand the construction of buildings, including electrical installations and plumbing, as well as safety systems and plant equipment. They will provide the first and immediate response to fault finding, whilst maximizing cost effectiveness. They will seek to prevent any major damage that could result in the need for extensive repairs and minimize the need for reactive intervention.
Apprentices in Property Maintenance Operations must comply with organisational safety policies and procedures, by identifying hazards and reducing them. You will carry out repairs to the fabric of a building, such as walls, doors, doorframes, skirting boards, or plaster damage to internal walls. You must understand and maintain plumbing and drainage systems, like repairing leaking taps and WCs, water testing for hygiene and unblocking drains. Further to this, you will also understand and maintain electrical distribution and provide the safe repair of electrical installations to legal requirements, replacing damaged sockets, plugs, lighting and fuses. You shall also be able to demonstrate and implement energy, environment and sustainable practices.
This programme has been designed to develop and recognise your skills, knowledge and competence, so that you can work effectively and progress onto further learning in the following sectors: Housing, Healthcare, Hospitality, Education, Commercial Property, Leisure, Retail and Public or Private Sector Buildings.
For any employer looking to take on an IT Apprentice, this is a fantastic opportunity to add someone to your team that will have up-to-date knowledge of IT skills and standards. Employers also have the opportunity to mould the Apprenticeship Programme to link in with the needs of their Business.
Please note, Apprenticeships can also be used to upskill existing staff moving into a new or more complex role.
