Access to Higher Education
On completion, the Access course leads to the nationally recognised: QAA/ Ascentis Access to Higher Education Diploma.
The Access course is open to all adults who wish to return to education and gain qualifications for the first time, renew qualifications gained in the past, or acquire new qualifications with a career change in mind.
Students joining the course are usually planning to progress to higher education (university) in a broad range of courses including the following:
- Humanities (English, English Literature, Psychology, Sociology, History, Archaeology etc.)
- Teacher training
- Health related courses (nursing, midwfery, radiography etc)
- Social work/ Social Welfare
Subjects available for 2010 – 2011 include;
- Psychology
- English Language
- English Literature
- Social Welfare
- Introductory Science
- Human Biology
- Quantitative Methods (Maths)
- Health Studies
- Higher Education Toolbox (Study Skills).
Each subject is taught on one day a week
between 9.30 - 2.30.
