TUC Union Learning Reps Stage 2
The TUC have written a brand new Stage 2 ULR course which we are running for the first time 5 Wednesdays from June 23rd.
On the stage 2 courses reps have the opportunity to focus on an aspect of their work with a view to improving their practice as representatives. For most reps, having time and support to develop something that is of interest and value to them is a thoroughly enjoyable challenge. You may already have something going on at work that would benefit from this space to find out more, talk to people, think, plan and develop. It may be that you have been introduced to new information or skills as part of previous courses that you could usefully apply to your workplace context. Alternatively, there may be an issue or problem that you feel has never been properly investigated and resolved.
This course provides the opportunity to pick up any such item to work on. In addition to the timetabled course hours, the course tutor and other ULRs working through a similar process will be able to provide support with this project. If there are ULRs from the same workplace or union they may want to work collectively on a project, each having their own area to focus on.
Whatever is chosen to work on, it does not have to be something that has to be ‘finished’ by the end of the course. What is asked is that ULRs will work closely with the Tutor, using course materials as guidance, logging what they do in the Project diary, and sharing what they develop with others on the course.
If you have done the ULR stage 1 course this could be just the course to give learning a kick start or to devote some focused time to something you wish to achieve.
