Campus Redevelopment
Carlisle College has completed phase 2 of its Campus Redevelopment transforming into an innovative high-tech sustainable learning environment, with support from the North West Regional Development Agency (NWDA) and Cumbria County Council (CCC).
The College now boasts a world-class campus for innovative teaching and learning for the 21st century.
The College launched a modernising programme in 2005 supported by LSC which has resulted in an environment that Carlisle and Cumbria can be proud of.
The campus re-development features a brand new purpose-build building that will boast the following facilities:

Student Services
The sections of the college are joined through an open plan atrium that will house new kitchen and restaurant facility for students to learn hospitality skills. Salon and college reception, student services and other communal areas that form the heart of the college.
The new facilities combined with the retained buildings A and D * will provide the College with 13,500 sqm of accommodation and an improved external landscaped area not currently enjoyed by the College
The new building aims to achieve a minimum BRE Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) Very Good rating
In addition the new building will:
- Be pressured tested to minimise uncontrolled air infiltration
- Heat recovery will be used wherever possible
- Use low energy lighting where appropriate
- Daylight linked occupancy sensors will be used to control lighting
- An automatic building management control system will be installed and integrated with the existing building A *
- The landscape and drainage proposals for the car park areas will include permeable paving allowing water to penetrate into the substrata. Existing planting will be strengthened to encourage biodiversity.
