Carlisle College – Apprenticeships Awards 2011

As Part of National Apprenticeship Week, Carlisle College will be hosting an Apprenticeship Awards Evening this Thursday (10 February). The event will be attended by Apprentices, employers and College staff. Nominations include:
Employer of the Year
Apprentice of the Year

Over 50 guests are expected to attend including Apprentices, employers, teaching staff and MP for Carlisle John Stevenson.

Dave Yarwood, Director of Business Development at the College said:
“ The commitment and dedication shown by our Apprentices has been immense. We are privileged that many of the employers we work with are themselves, former Apprentices of the College. The benefits of the Apprenticeship scheme are well known and this is a great opportunity to celebrate success.”

There are real benefits to businesses taking on an Apprentice. The Apprenticeship programme has been designed to help employees reach a high level of competency and performance. The range of qualifications and methods of delivery ensure that employees can continue to make a valuable contribution to the business and gain the skills business needs to grow and prosper.  The term Apprenticeship refers to on-the-job training leading to nationally recognised qualifications, developed by industry.

The College has years of experience in delivering Apprenticeships, but today the opportunities to study are varied. The College still offers the traditional Apprenticeships in construction, electrical and plumbing, but Apprenticeships are penetrating other industries including hairdressing, dental nursing, child care, customer service, business administration and more. Carlisle College will shortly be introducing Apprenticeship frameworks at Level 4.

Sue Price, Regional Director for the National Apprenticeship Service in the North West says;
“I am delighted to support the Apprenticeship Awards being hosted by Carlisle College as part of Apprenticeships Week 2011.  It is fantastic to see providers, employers and wider stakeholders showcasing the benefits of Apprenticeships and the value apprentices bring to the organisations they work for”.

“National Apprenticeships Week celebrates the talents and skills of apprentices across England and is an excellent opportunity to highlight to employers the benefits that Apprenticeships can bring in terms of return on investment, productivity, motivation of workforce and efficiency”.
