Level 2 Pathways to Care
This study programme provides an opportunity to equip individuals with the knowledge, understanding and practical skills for success in employment in the caring field. It is designed for those who wish to work in a care setting e.g. a residential or care home.
Students will also be required to work towards Maths and English GCSE and employability skills.

You will learn through a system of lectures, discussions, group work, assignments, individual research, individual support and practical work experience.
Assessment is achieved through project work, assignments and mandatory work experience (45 minimum hours). At the end of the course you will have produced a portfolio.
4 GCSEs at Grade D (3) including Maths and English or Level 1 vocational qualification at Merit or Distinction and Level 1 qualifications in Maths and English or Scottish equivalent.
The course requires students to undertake a work placement, which may involve work with children or vulnerable adults. Applicants who do not have a current DBS criminal check will be required to obtain one through the College.
In addition you must also have a successful interview, 2 references and pass a vocational related assessment.
The course can lead on to the L3 Diploma in Health and Social Care, Work Based Learning NVQ 3 in Health and Social Care, or other similar qualification in a related area. The course may also lead straight to employment in registered care homes, housing, community work and the voluntary sector, hospitals and primary care trusts.
