Foundation Degree Business Management
This FdA programme aims to produce work ready graduates who have a sound knowledge and understanding of organisations and the business environment in which they operate and manage, whilst developing the skills and techniques to allow them to either become successful in gaining employment, provide progression opportunities in their place of work or to progress onto further higher education.
The FdA content will enable an individual from any business sector to study and develop business skills and knowledge across a range of topics that are valued by employers. The course will include mandatory work placements in both years which will enable students to use experiential learning in the modules and apply theory to their placements, whilst developing their own professional practice in their chosen field.

Who the Course is for?
The FdA is suitable for those who are interested in self-employment, micro and small businesses and large employers alike, and although emphasis will be placed on the local business landscape, the course will look at global business operations to broaden your perspectives.
Foundation Degree in Business management
Year 1: Academic Studies, Managing Business Operations, Introduction to Financial Management, Introduction to Human Resource Management, Marketing in a Global Economy, Personal and Professional Practice, Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Work Based Project
Year 2: Effective team Management, Human Resource Development, Operations Management and Strategy, Financial Management, Quality Management, Leadership, Innovation & Change, Project Management, Work Based Business Decision Making
The overall teaching and learning strategy on the programme is to promote opportunities to develop business and employability skills, self-awareness and self-knowledge. Additionally, the teaching and learning on the programme will allow opportunities for you to develop independent and reflective learning capabilities.
You will be expected to learn independently, and to plan, schedule and perform your work (assessments), and to study at an academic level. It is also expected that you take responsibility and ownership of your learning journey. This also means to ask for support where needed and to bring in your experiences, expectations and ideas
Following completion of the FdA you will be able to start or develop your own business, apply for employment or top up your foundation degree to a full BA (Hons) in Business Management.
There are a wide range of careers available to you once you have completed your degree and you will be able to apply for business management roles across a wide variety of industry sectors.
Entry requirements are usually 80 UCAS points or comparable/equivalent qualifications and/or a range of relevant experience.
Students who have completed a full HNC may be able to start as a second year student. Students who have completed part of an HNC may be exempt from studying certain modules and may be able to switch to the FdA as a pathway
