Level 2 Certificate in Barbering Studies (QCF)
The VTCT Level 2 Certificate in Barbering Studies (QCF) is a substantial vocational qualification for learners seeking a career as an employed and/or self-employed men's hairdresser.
This qualification is based on the barbering National Occupational Standards (NOS) and is recognised by the UK's leading barbering association (British Barbering Association - BBA) and hairdressing professional body (The Hairdressing Council) as being fit for purpose for preparing learners for a career as a junior men's hairdresser.
Entry onto this qualification can be via previous attainment of a Level 1 qualification in hairdressing/barbering and/or a successful skills test and interview.

The course is made up of 4 units, these include;
- Health and safety in the salon
- Client consultation for hair services
- Cut men's hair
- Cut facial hair
As part of your course, you will be required to study towards functional skills or GCSE in Maths & English.
Method of Study
You will learn through observing and participating in a wide range of practical activities in our modern commercial salons.
Method of Assessment
Your progress will be continually monitored and assessed by your tutors. You will produce a portfolio with records of your practical activities, written tests and oral questions.
4 GCSEs at grade D (3) including Maths and English
Subject to an initial assessment and interview with the course tutor.
This qualification will prepare you for employment as a junior men's hairdresser.
Whilst this qualification's primary purpose is to prepare learners for employment as a junior men's hairdresser, learners may choose to further develop their skills base by progressing onto Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing.
Other Details
Students will be expected to purchase a Barbering kit and uniform, which must be worn to every session.
