An Apprenticeship in Leadership & Management is suitable for anyone currently working in (or considering) a first line management role and/or someone who manages a team or projects and is responsible for achieving operational or departmental goals and objectives as part of their organisational role.

Apprentices will attend Carlisle College one day a month to access expert tuition led by industry experienced tutors, meanwhile continuing to work with their employer in a practical setting.

Candidates that undertake Apprenticeships in Leadership & Management are able to combine practical skills that have been taught in College and apply them to scenarios in the workplace. Typical occupations for a Level 3 Apprentice may include: Supervisor, Team Leader, Project Officer, Shift Supervisor and Shift Manager. Level 5 roles may include; Operations manager, regional manager, divisional manager, department manager and specialist manager.

Carlisle College are able to offer this Apprenticeship scheme at Level 3 (ILM Level 3 Diploma for Managers) and Level 5 (ILM Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management), opening the door to higher level management roles.

  • On programme (Completion and achievement of ILM Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management.)
  • Gateway (The opportunity for the employer and your college training advisor to agree when the apprentice is ready for the end point assessment)
  • End Point Assessment (Five components – Knowledge Test using scenarios and questions. Structured competency based interview. Assessment of portfolio of evidence. Assessment of and presentation on work based project. Professional discussion relating to CPD activity.

Method of Assessment

Apprentices will also be assessed in the workplace and required to keep a portfolio of evidence as a record of all the work completed towards their qualification. A designated assessor will guide them through a variety of assessment methods, such as assignments and case studies; however, these will also include modules that have been agreed by the employer and the assessor, to best fit the business.

Entry Requirements
Advanced – Level 3 Apprenticeship

The entry requirement for this apprenticeship will be decided by each employer, but may typically be five GCSEs at Grade C or higher.

Higher – Level 5 Apprenticeship

The entry requirement for this apprenticeship will be decided by each employer, but may typically be five GCSEs at Grade C or higher.

Maths & English

Apprentices will need to achieve Level 2 in English and Maths prior to taking their End Point Assessment.
