Level 4 HNC and Level 5 HND in General Engineering

HNCs (Higher National Certificates) and HNDs (Higher National Diplomas) are work-related (vocational) higher education qualifications. HNCs and HNDs are designed to give you the skills to put knowledge to effective use in a particular job. They are universally recognised in UK industry and are highly valued by employers both in the UK and overseas. They can also count towards incorporated membership of professional bodies.

The BTEC HNC and HND in Engineering at Carlisle College include units based in industry, either as part of your regular work, or completed while on placement with an employer.

The HNC aligns with Level 4 in the national Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF), while the HND is at Level 5 (the same level as a Foundation Degree)

The HNC is normally completed within the duration of an Engineering apprenticeship.
