Pathway to Computing

This study programme provides an opportunity to equip individuals with the knowledge, understanding and practical skills for success in employment working with the IT Industry. It is designed for those who wish to enter work at entry level/ traineeship jobs in hardware and software, also apprenticeship opportunities.
Students will also be required to work towards Maths and English GCSE and employability skills.

Computing is a key part of improving the quality of our lives, whether its mobile technology or being able to access the Internet everywhere at the touch of a button. (Ubiquitous and Pervasive computing).

The Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Diploma in Computer Science is equivalent in size to 2 A levels and is aimed at students looking to progress to employment in this sector, either directly or following further training, including and Apprenticeship or higher education.

BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Information Technology

This qualification is designed to give learners the opportunity to develop their knowledge and skills in IT. Learners study the relationship between hardware and software, managing and communicating information and data, and the principles of designing and developing digital technologies and processes to support organisations. It includes a choice of optional units, covering areas such as data modelling and analytics.

The Pearson BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Information Technology is equivalent in size to 3 A levels and is aimed at students looking to progress to employment in this sector, either directly or following further training, including an Apprenticeship or higher education. If studying for one year only this course is equivalent to 1½ A Levels.
