Future CSI specialists from Carlisle College investigate a simulated crime scene
Future CSI specialists from Carlisle College who are studying Level 3 BTEC Applied Science (Forensic Science) and BTEC Public Services will be undertaking an investigation of a simulated crime scene testing the skills and theory that they’ve been learning in the classroom.
This investigation will give the students the opportunity to investigate scenes in a realistic setting. The students, working in small teams will process the scene using the appropriate equipment and procedures to prevent contamination and loss, and to ensure continuity of evidence.
The process will include the isolation of scene to preserve evidence, followed by documentation through sketches, photographs and written notes, and finally the systematic search, recovery, packaging and labelling of the physical evidence. This evidence will then be logged and returned to the college laboratory for further analysis.
