Interactive story time at Carlisle College

Level 2 Childcare students at Carlisle College are getting ready to host a special event for Children from the City’s nurseries at the new campus at Victoria Place on Thursday afternoon.

Hosted in the Concept Classroom, students are preparing a series of interactive story telling activities for groups of children to learn from and take part in. The event will include performance, story books and story boards, each with a key message designed to teach the young guests key lessons.

The session will form part of the employability skills element of the childcare course. The unit is designed to give students real life first-hand experience in caring for a group of children and teaching them life skills in a fun and interactive way.

Children will attend the session from St Aiden’s Day Nursery, Kinder Park Nursery and Little Angels. 27 children and staff from the nurseries are expected to attend.

Tutor Kay Collins-Butterworth said:
“Our students are really looking forward to what promises to be a fun packed afternoon. Employability skills are key part of the course and ensure that our students are prepared for their future. The College provides real life learning experiences and they will gain a great deal of knowledge and experience during their time with us.”
