    Leading lights of Cumbria’s motor trade have been given the opportunity to accelerate their understanding of Hybrid vehicles during an industry event at Carlisle College.

  2. Carlisle College Officially Opens New £10m Victoria Place Campus 26th April 2012

     

    The new multi-million pound Victoria Place campus at Carlisle College was officially opened this week by a leading figure in the education sector.

    Sir George Sweeney, knighted in 2000 for services to education, cut the ribbon to mark the official opening of the college’s new £10m building on Thursday 26th April.

    Carlisle College Principal Moira Tattersall said the new campus underlined the college’s unique ability to offer students the opportunity to learn over 300 new skills.

  4. Students give it the old ‘Razzle Dazzle’ with musical theatre spectacular 21st March 2012

     

    Carlisle College students studying Level 3 Performing Arts, Level 3 Music and Level 3 Music Technology are holding their final rehearsals for an adventure through musical theatre with their production ‘Gladrags and Hand Bags’.

    The 90 minute production will feature highlights from the best of Broadway, The West End and the silver screen including; Sweeney Todd, Chicago, Cabaret, Mamma Mia and Saturday Night Fever.

    The great and the good of Cumbria’s Hair & Beauty students descended upon Carlisle College on Wednesday to take part in an inter-college competition to find the best hairdressers, makeup artists and nail technicians.

    Students from Carlisle College of the Arts had a rare opportunity at Penrith’s Alhambra Cinema on Friday when they attended a private screening of The Elephant Man, followed by a question and answer session with lead actor John Hurt

    Carlisle College, one of the region’s biggest apprentice and work based learning training providers has launched a new website,  www.cumbriaapprenticeships.co.uk which looks to match Cumbrian businesses with prospective apprentices.

    An exciting new art exhibition has opened at Carlisle’s Crown Gallery which showcases the first external display of work by second year students studying the National Extended Diploma in Art & Design at Carlisle College.

    To celebrate National Apprenticeship Week (6-10 February), Dave Yarwood, Director of Business Development at Carlisle College will be hanging up his business suit on Wednesday 8th February and trying his hand at something completely out of his comfort zone – becoming an apprentice hairdresser.

  10. College set to host ‘Engineer The Future’ event 31st January 2012

     

    Ensuring that Cumbria’s engineering businesses and students are better prepared for the future is main aim of a prestigious event being hosted by Carlisle College in February called ‘Engineer The Future’.

    The event, which is being held on 22 February between 6pm and 8.30pm at the Victoria Place campus has been organised by Colin Luhrs, Head of Engineering and Technical Services and is open to all engineering businesses across the region with a view to them gaining an insight into the future engineering needs of industry.
