Carlisle College student enters National Junior Chef Competition 2010
Carlisle College student James O’carroll has succeeded in securing a place at the National Junior Chef of the Year competition.
This prestigious national competition will be held at Thanet College on the 20th and 21st May 2010 and will be judged by a panel including Chef Broadcaster, Gary Rhodes.
Six finalists will battle it out for the coveted first place trophy. All finalists are of secondary school age in years 7 to 11.
Entrants will be given three hours to prepare their menu including the main course and dessert. Emphasis will be placed on flavours, presentation and skills.
Course Tutor Elaine Grieves said:
“We are delighted that James has secured a place in this national competition. James is an immensely talented young chef, who will do very well.”
Principal of Carlisle College Moira Tattersall said:
“James has done exceptionally well. His determination and commitment are second to none. This is a prestigious accolade for Carlisle College. We wish his the very best of luck in the competition.”
James is also a pupil at Richard Rose Central Academy. Head Teacher Russ Wallace said:
“I am delighted with James’s achievement. This is a great example of joint working between Carlisle College and Richard Rose Central Academy.”
