Enrichment
Your time at Carlisle College is not just about study. We want to make your experience at college rewarding, so we have loads of fun, enrichment activities throughout the year that can really enhance college life and help you get maximum enjoyment from your time at the college. We are always happy to listen to our student’s ideas of activities they would like to do and suggestions on how we can make the College even better.
CHALLENGE CUMBRIA
Students from Carlisle College, Lakes College, Kendal College and Furness College took part in the local enterprise competition 'Challenge Cumbria' hosted by Kendal College
Students from each of the College were split into teams to come up with a new and innovative business idea that took its inspiration from something local. The business could have been a product or a service – as long as it was a ‘cool’ creation and made money. As part of the initiative for teamwork all students took part in a team building activity before the main event of the day.
Carlisle College students were part of the top 3 winning teams. The winning team created a wearable disposable alcohol tester to test for drugs used to spike drinks, their entry has now been entered for taking part in the regional competition 'Make Your Mark Challenge 2009'.
FRESHERS FAIR
The College fair welcomed all new students to the College. The theme of the event was Equality and Diversity. Students got the chance to see what goes on in their community as well as looking at different cultures, including Chinese food tasting, music from a steel band and African dancers.
Around a 1,000 students took part in a bowling championship as part of their induction. This was again a great success.
COMMUNITY WORK
During this year, students will have the chance to take part in various community projects throughout Carlisle and the County. This gives students the opportunity to give something back to the local community, while finding out first hand what goes on in our county. It will also look fantastic on their CVs.
