College Hosts Devils Kitchen Dinner Charity Event

The Devils Kitchen charitable event was adapted from the well known TV series 'Hells Kitchen'. Two teams of student chefs lead by local celebrities Val Armstrong from BBC Radio Cumbria and David McNeill the Cumbrian Newspapers Promotions Manager served 32 diners over two nights at Thyme Out Restaurant, Carlisle College. The whole event was overseen by Masterchef Andy Stacey where two kitchens ran simultaneously producing two different menus in an entertaining head to head gourmet encounter.
Over the two evenings, the event raised £1,356 for Eden Valley Hospice.
Fresher's Fair Quiz Winners
The winners of the quiz at the Freshers' Fair were the BTEC National Diploma in Business, course tutor Emma Edwards. Well done to Team X Factor and many thanks to all the other teams who took part.
Catering Students Charity Dinner Raises Cash for Eden House
Catering Students held a Charity Dinner last month, which raised money for local charity Eden House.
The dinner, which was a five course gourmet experience designed by students was themed around ‘The Tempest’ by William Shakespeare. Locals, friends and family members were invited to buy tickets to the dinner, and the proceeds were donated to the charity.
An enjoyable evening of fine dining resulted in £543.43 being raised.
Sports Event for Learning Support Students
Students on the sports studies courses planned a sports day event for learning support students this month.
The event was planned as part of the Equality and Diversity element of the course.
The students designed a skills circuit where different activities could be tried by everyone.
There was a presentation of certificates to students at the end of the day and refreshments were provided.
Hair and Beauty Students at Men’s Health Event
Hair and Beauty Students attended a men’s health event at the Lanes Shopping Centre this month.
The event was aimed at informing locals about all aspects of men’s health, promoting healthy living and lifestyles.
Hair and Beauty Students carried out head massages and hand treatments for visitors to the event, with the aim of promoting the hair and beauty courses.
Carlisle College Students Win Collaboration Competition
Congratulations to the Students who won the collaboration Hair and Beauty competition between the other Cumbrian colleges.
A Hair and Beauty Awards evening is being held at the Cathedral on 2 June.

Congratulations to the winners of this years Equality and Diversity competition.
