This FdSc programme aims to combine contemporary theory, innovative practice and industry experience to produce work ready graduates who have an excellent knowledge and understanding of Physical Education and Sports Coaching.
This degree is an approved Higher Technical Qualification quality marked by the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education.
While on the course you will develop important skills needed for preparation to work or progress in the sports industry, such as leadership, organisation, research and planning skills. You will explore topics involving the national curriculum, coaching and teaching styles, child development, differentiation in disability sport and psychology. The programme includes elements of work placement, this is a valuable aspect of the FdSc which enables learners to use experimental learning and apply theory into practice, whilst developing their own professional practice in their chosen field.

Learners will be assessed through a range of methods including - academic reports, practical activities, presentations, portfolios and projects.

- Alternate progression is also available if you work in a relevant field or have experience of working in sport as well as supplementary qualifications,
- You will be expected to have DBS clearance before starting this degree.

Upon successful completion of the course, learners will be equipped with the knowledge and practical skills to successfully work in the sports sector.
Learners can choose to seek employment coaching children and young people in sports organisations, sports teams and abroad as well as many other sporting roles. Alternatively, learners can choose to top-up their foundation degree to a full BSc (Hons), then complete a PGCE if they wish to go into teaching.
