Rheged Deconstruction Fashion Show
Come see our deconstruction exhibition at Rheged and support our level 1 art students.
We’re proud to announce that Rheged will be hosting a new exhibition showcasing the work of our incredible Level 1 Art & Design students.
The project, titled Deconstruction, explores sustainability in fashion and textiles through the creative process of taking garments apart and reimagining them into something entirely new. Students have investigated the environmental impact of fast fashion and responded by physically deconstructing existing clothing — analysing seams, structure, fabric and form — before reconstructing the materials into innovative new designs.
This exhibition celebrates experimentation, risk-taking and the development of practical studio skills, while encouraging critical thinking around sustainable practice and conscious design.
For many students, this marks their first experience of exhibiting work in a professional public gallery space, an invaluable opportunity to gain insight into the creative industries and build confidence as emerging artists.
