We are thrilled to be able to present Carlisle College plastering apprentice Jake Waite, with the British Gypsum Apprentice of the Year Award.
Jake was nominated for the award by his Plastering Training Advisor, Marshall Parkinson....
"When I was asked to nominate an apprentice for the British Gypsum Student of the Year award, I instantly thought of Jake Waite. Jake’s maturity and positive attitude throughout the first year of his apprenticeship made him a stand-out candidate. This was also backed by the constant positive feedback I have been receiving from Jake’s Line manager Richard.
Jake has shown a genuine interest in plastering since he began his apprenticeship journey and his enthusiasm shows within all aspects of his work. Jake always looks for a challenge in theory lessons and practical sessions; always looking for a way to further develop his skillset.
Jake has become an asset to his class as he is always at hand to help out his fellow classmates with both theory knowledge and practical skills. As Jake's training advisor, I could not think of a better apprentice to receive the award. His hard work, mixed with his great attitude and 100% attendance make him the model apprentice and a great role model to his classmates.
I’m excited to see what Jake accomplishes in the future, and look forward to him competing for Carlisle College in the next annual skill build."
Carlisle College Principal Sarah McGrath presented Jake with his award today, along with Marshall Parkinson, and Jade Williams, from Jake's employer Eddie Wannop Ltd
