    Scott Price

    Chef and Professional Cookery Tutor

    Scott has held an impressive career as a Michelin-trained chef and restaurant owner, and is now teaching the next generation of budding chefs. Scott started his career right here as a student at Carlisle College. Since then his career has seen him work for Gordon Ramsay in London, before launching his own restaurant and concept company in Dubai. in 2021, Scott returned to the UK with his family to run his own business, Moorside Farmhouse - a family-run farm with a luxury holiday cottage - which focuses on high-end country living and homegrown produce. Scott is a firm believer that if you work hard and believe in yourself, anything is possible. The Hospitality business has so much to offer and can take you wherever you wish to go.

    Suzanne Watson

    Catering & Hospitality Lecturer

    I joined Carlisle College as a school leaver to study Patisserie, Craft Bakery & Cake Decorating, courses that sparked my passion for the world of hospitality. After completing my studies, I gained extensive experience working in a wide range of kitchen environments, including pubs, bakeries, cafés, hotels, restaurants & managing nursery kitchens. In 2006, I fulfilled a personal ambition by opening and running my own bakery, further strengthening my industry knowledge and practical skills. Throughout my time as a chef, I continued to build on my professional qualifications. This ongoing development not only deepened my expertise but also inspired me to want to teach and support others entering the hospitality industry. In 2015, I transitioned into teaching, delivering apprenticeships across Cumbria, Lancashire, and Scotland. When the Covid-19 pandemic disrupted traditional teaching methods, I moved into careers advice with Inspira. During this period, I achieved my Level 4 and Level 6 qualifications in Careers Advice and Guidance, supporting unemployed adults, ex-offenders, and later students within schools. Although careers guidance allowed me to make a positive difference, I always hoped to return to teaching within my local community. The opportunity to join Carlisle College and share my experience with learners felt like the perfect next step. I am passionate about the hospitality sector, committed to nurturing the next generation of talent, and proud to be teaching in the place where my own journey began.

    Catering Tutor and Restaurant Manager

    Working straight out of school I have spent a lot of my working life building a career in hospitality. Working in nightclubs, bars, pubs and moving into restaurants and hotels, I have forged a path from the bottom to the top in the hospitality industry. Starting out as a humble glass collector in a local bar, I moved onto the bar serving drinks and talking to customers. This is where I found my love for the industry and the different characters and stories you hear and meet along the way. From there I moved up to supervisors’ positions which transitioned into a food and beverage managers role within a busy Carlisle hotel. The goal at this point was always to own and run my own pub, and within a short space of time the opportunity arrived. I ran a busy city centre pub for 3 years and loved every minute, even the challenges I faced the team worked hard and I will forever be grateful for them. Now here at the college I put these skills and experiences to use, leading the new generations in hospitality skills and sharing the experiences I have learned along my journey to prepare them for the working world.
