Our Supported Learning programmes are designed to help you develop the skills you need for the future.

Whether you need a little extra support or just aren’t quite ready to join a full-time course, at Carlisle College we are committed to prepare you for further study or employment so that you can progress in an area which interests you.

Our dedicated and experienced staff can help you develop your confidence and independence to help you decide which direction you want to take when you’re ready to make that step.

Ike Thompson

Ike has been at Carlisle College for 4 years, He started on Entry 3 Skills for Employment and then progressed to both Levels 1 and 2 in Customer Service. During that time he achieved a Grade 3 in Maths and a Grade 2 in English. In September 2024 he started on the Supported Internship course. His dream was always to work in retail and he was able to secure a placement at Center Parcs (with support from Right2Work). During his last year at college he completed his Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene in Catering certificate, participated in a virtual interview as part of the National Interview Month initiative, in partnership with YourGamePlan (YGP) and accomplished training sessions in Prevent, and an Hour of Code. His confidence has grown tremendously and he was able to apply for a position at Center Parcs. Ike performed very well in his interview and was offered a job at Center Parcs which he eagerly accepted. We are all very proud of Ike and what he has achieved. Ike said, "I'm really happy to get a job in a place that I love."
