Looking forward to coming to college but worried about money? We can help.

We have funding available to help you out and a team of friendly staff who can answer any questions or concerns you may have. This includes questions about transport, course fees, Further Education (FE) & Higher Education (HE) loans, debts and budgeting and much more.

Who can apply for the 16-18 Bursary?

If you fall into one of the following categories, you will be eligible to apply for support from the 16-19 Bursary:

  • Household income less than £38,500.
  • Household meets the Free Meals in Further Education criteria.
  • You are a young person who is living independently and in receipt of Income Support or Universal Credit because you are financially supporting yourself, or financially supporting yourself and someone who is dependent on you and living with you, such as a child or partner.
  • You are a young person in receipt of Employment Support Allowance or Universal Credit AND Disability Living Allowance or Personal Independence Payment (PIP) in your own right.
  • You are a young person in care or leaving care.

 

If you are eligible, what will you receive?

The support that you will be offered is specific to your household income.

If you have a household income of up to £25,000, you could receive the following support:

  • FREE travel support (if you live 1 mile away from campus)
    Please note, it may be determined that no travel support is required as there is no public transport that will be effective in helping you travel to college, and that it is reasonable for you to walk directly to college. NCG reserves the right to make this decision.
  • FREE meal entitlement (£5 per timetabled day)
  • FREE equipment and trips (equipment will need to be returned on completion of your course)
  • Laptop loan (limited stock - first come first served).
    If you have a household income of between £25,001 - £38,500, you could receive the following support:
  • FREE travel support (if you live 2 miles away from campus)
  • FREE meal entitlement (£5 per timetabled day)
  • FREE equipment and trips

How to apply

 

Students must be fully enrolled on their course to apply.

 

Students who applied for support in 2024/25 via PayMyStudent and received support:

Step 1: Log into your PayMyStudent account.

Step 2: Select Further Education Questions.

Step 3: Complete al the questions, upload all required evidence, read the T&Cs and then sign and submit form.

 

New Students or Students who did not receive a bursary in 24/25:

Step 1: Complete the Multi-Factor Authentication process before registering for a PayMyStudent account.

Step 2: Register for a PayMyStudent account using the Student ID number, and date of birth. Activate the account by clicking on the activation link sent to Student Email.

Step 3: Log into your account.

Step 4: Select Further Education Questions.

Step 5: Complete all questions, upload all required evidence, read T&Cs and then sign and submit form.

Who can apply for the 19+ Bursary?

We want you to reach your full potential, and that’s why we have a means tested bursary available, funded by the Adult Skills Fund or Advanced Learner Loan funding bodies, to help you overcome specific financial barriers, which may prevent you from fully participating and achieving on your course. All support is subject to change.

If you fall into one of the following categories, you may be eligible to apply for support from the 19+ Bursary:

  • Joint Household or household with dependants - income less than £32,300
  • Single Household – an income of between £9360 - £21,530

Please note, if your fees are not funded via the Adult Skills Fund or Advanced Learner Loan, you are not eligible to apply.
