Apprenticeship Description
As an Engineering Maintenance Apprentice within the food and drink manufacturing sector, you will play a key role in supporting the reliability and performance of production equipment within a fast‑paced food manufacturing environment. At Greggs, our sites operate a wide range of automated machinery used for mixing, baking, packaging, refrigeration and conveyance systems. You will gain hands‑on experience maintaining this equipment while developing specialist electrical engineering skills.
Skills Required:
- A genuine interest in engineering, problem‑solving and how machinery works
- Basic understanding of electrical or mechanical principles (school‑level or hobby‑based is fine)
- Good practical ability and willingness to work hands‑on with tools and equipment
- Strong fault‑finding mindset with the ability to think logically
- Ability to follow technical instructions and safety procedures
- Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
- Basic IT skills for completing digital maintenance records
- Good time‑management and ability to prioritise tasks when working in a busy environment
- Attention to detail, especially regarding food safety and hygiene standards
- Willingness to learn, ask questions and develop new technical skills
