Apprenticeship Description

Main Purpose

As a member of the ICT team, to assist with maintaining and developing the Trust & Trust school’s ICT networks and systems including the installation and updating of hardware & software across the network in response to School needs. To provide technical support for users (both curriculum and administrative) and develop and maintain the school’s website and a number of school applications.

 

ICT Service Delivery

• Act as first-line support for end users, troubleshooting ICT faults and ensuring all requests are logged. escalating issues to second line support where necessary.

• Travel to local schools to provide occasional onsite support where required.

• Act upon requests/reports to solve unexpected ICT problems and ensure all requests are logged.

• Provide support to ICT users, including provision of technical classroom support including providing ICT training for school staff.

• Monitor use of the network to comply with the school’s acceptable use policy, e.g. websites visited, users’ network space or illegal content etc.

• Assist with the maintenance of computer software, hardware and liaise with ICT equipment suppliers and visiting engineers as appropriate.

• Liaising with students and parents who require support in accessing and using appropriate school systems.

• Undertake first line maintenance.

• Administer email and user groups and accounts ensuring these are secure and up to date.

• Provide advice and support to members of the teaching staff regarding the use of ICT equipment.

• Management of online services including VLE and website (working with our external providers of these services as necessary).

 

ICT Resilience & Security

• In conjunction with senior ICT support staff (and in line with their technical design architecture) maintain and configure the internet filtering and physical cabling/hardware.

• Monitor antivirus software across the network to ensure all systems are secure and free from viruses, hacking and other threats.

• Maintain an up-to-date inventory of school IT hardware, software, facilities and consumables.

• Undertake professional development to ensure technical knowledge and expertise remains contemporary to deliver the role.

• Have knowledge of and comply with data protection legislation and all school data protection policies.

• Ensure high levels of confidentiality are maintained when dealing with data relating to staff and students.

• Work within the team to ensure systems are kept fully operational which may require evening or weekend work by mutual agreement.

 

ICT Development

• Perform complete installations on new PC’s.

• Install new and upgraded computer software and hardware.

• Install and maintain all peripheral devices within the school.

• Develop and promote the use of paperless technologies.

• Take an active role in the implementation of new/updated IT systems and provide documentation and training for staff/students as required.

 

ICT Relevant School Duties

• Liaise with and support the delivery of the school reprographics service as appropriate.

• Support the maintenance and development of the school website.

• To assist in the setup and maintenance of the school’s audio and visual equipment for assemblies, functions and events, such as sports day & activities week.

• Develop online media resources in conjunction with staff and departments.

The above duties are not exhaustive and the post holder may be required to undertake tasks, roles and responsibilities as may be reasonably assigned to them by Senior School Leaders.   This job description may be reviewed and amended as necessary through consultation with the post holder.

 

General School Accountabilities

• Be sufficiently literate and numerate for the role (GCSE grade 4 or above in English and Maths).

• Current valid driving licence and access to own vehicle.

 

Working Week

37 hours/week, 52 weeks a year with annual leave allowance to be taken during school holidays- worked each day to cover school hours. One day college release (during term time) with travel paid for.

 

Skills required

Experience working as part of a team (this could be in a sporting, educational, work or social setting)

Personal Qualities

Ability to communicate confidently and effectively with staff, students and other stakeholders.

The ability to work in a reactive environment whilst under pressure and maintain professional and organised structure.

Excellent administration and organisation skills.

 

Entry requirements: Maths & English GCSE grade 4 / C or equivalent qualification
