Apprenticeship Description
In 2013 Warren Skelly set up his plumbing and heating business serving Lancaster, Morecambe and the South Lakes and has quickly built a reputation as one of the best in the business. By listening to our customers and finding out what they need, over time the company has added to its core services of plumbing and heating with boiler repairs and servicing, specialist disabled bathrooms, contract services, renewable energy and heating systems. We pride ourselves in being able to fulfil both small domestic works and large commercial contracts, bringing the same levels of professionalism to bear no matter how large or small the job. We are soon to be working alongside other organisations within the north Cumbria area and believe this will be a fantastic time to start bringing in plumbing apprentices into the organisation from Carlisle and surrounding areas. As a plumbing apprentice, you will work under the supervision of a time served tradesman to learn all aspects of installation of plumbing and heating systems to new properties throughout the North West of England. Training will go hand in hand with college attendance and gaining the relevant certification and accreditations.
Expectations of the job role – included but not limited to:
- Installation – Fitting new water, gas, and water pipe systems and appliances (sinks, toilets, radiators, gas boilers)
- Repair and Maintenance – Diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing leaks, broken boilers and blocked drains.
- Planning – Reading blueprints and building plans to determine layout of material needs.
- Material Handling – Cutting, threading and joining pipes using tools such as gas torches and crimpers.
- Safety and Compliance – Ensuring all work meets local and building codes.
- Customer Service – Effectively communicating with clients about how work can be carried out and respectful whilst dealing with their property.
