Apprenticeship Description

Purpose

To develop the knowledge and skills to become a competent agricultural service administrator through a structured apprenticeship programme combining practical, on the job experience within the workshop and field alongside formal training delivered by block release studies at college. The apprentice will support the day-to-day administrative functions of a service department learning how to co-ordinate jobs, communicate with customers and ensure accurate data processing. Over time the role will build confidence and capability to manage service processes. The role is designed to prepare the apprentice for a long-term career within the business in a skilled administrative role.

 

Accountabilities

Day to day support of a busy workshop, covering the following key areas;

· Gaining hands on experience working within a fast-paced service office environment.

· Supporting the scheduling and co-ordination of service and repair jobs.

· Assisting raising and updating job cards, processing paperwork and updating internal systems.

· Ensuring high standards of organisation, accuracy and professionalism are maintained.

· Learning how to communicate effectively with customers to ensure accurate bookings, repair updates and enquires.

· Liaising with technicians, parts department and management to ensure a smooth

workflow.

· Attending college days and completing coursework to timescale.

· Building key customer relationships.

· Ensuring dealer standards are maintained across the department.

· Any other task associated with the efficient support of a workshop.

 

Essential/Desirable Skills & Experience

· Maths and English GCSE’s at Grade 4 or above.

· A genuine interest in business administration, customer service or office based roles.

· A positive attitude and strong willingness to learn and develop new skills.

· Good organisation and attention to detail.

· Good communication skills, both verbal and written.

· Reliability, good timekeeping and a responsible approach to work.

· Abilities to follow processes and work accurately.

· Confidence using basic IT systems.

· Commitment to attending college, completing coursework and progressing through an apprenticeship programme.

· Written skills – proven ability to use clear, concise language specific for the purpose and audience.
