The Access to Higher Education Diploma in Art & Design is designed to provide you with the knowledge, skills and understanding necessary to progress to degree level study in art and design, or into employment. It provides an opportunity for those who have an interest in the visual arts to explore, develop and test their creativity within a qualification structure which is stimulating and demanding and provides a supportive transition from further to higher education.

It is for age 19+ adults who may be returning to education at any stage of their life.

The vocational context of this qualification is key to effective delivery, and this is provided through assignment briefs that provide you with realistic, work-based scenarios and projects. You will be encouraged to take responsibility for your own learning and achievement.

Experimental Printmaking

Art and Design

Are you dreaming of creating your own prints and running your own Etsy store? Or are you an artist with passion for print and need a refresher?

Our Printmaking has been designed to provide you with an exciting and challenging experience, which will give an overview into the possibilities of Printmaking Including working with chance textures and the creation of multiples.

Whilst allowing learners to build on prior experience, will require them to approach new intellectual and material challenges, designed to deliver an independent critical understanding and extended skills base. Covering the Principles of printmaking and various printing methods. Relief printing, (lino, wood cut, collagraph, monoprint) Intaglio (Dry point Etching, Chine-Colle), and screen print. Learning many new approaches and techniques and also how to continue print from home to carry on your print journey outside of the course. This course is for beginners and more experienced artists alike.

At the end of the course, an exhibition of your work will be held, open to the public, family and friends.

AutoCad and Inventor

Art and Design

If you design furniture, room layouts, designing products, Manufacturing, Plumbing, electrical Carpentry and Joinery products like roofing, staircases and basic site plans, workshop rods for doors and windows, warehouse space efficiency, Engineering design, or just like to create, explore and draw, this course will delve into the basics of 2D AutoCAD and the 3D parametric modelling of Inventor.

Learn how to create precise 2D drawings and also detailed 3D solid form parts and assemble them into possible animated products. Learn how to create 3D products and turn them into working 2d annotated drawings for manufacture, in a course that has a fluid split between AutoCAD and Inventor, and their abilities.
