More about the course

In Creative Partnership with The Sands Centre, The Old Fire Station, Soundwave and The Youth Zone, this new one-year course has been created to embed skills required in the local industry.

The course focuses on events management with strands of music performance. You will work as a team, organising events, developing your leadership and organisational skills alongside technical and operational knowledge. You will also continue developing your musical skillset by participating in performances and composing your own music.

Within the course, you will perform live as a band in the college theatre, a selection of songs from across a variety of genres, compose a track, which infuses different styles of music using DAW to record and produce your track, play a variety of songs from different musical genres, using the techniques associated with each genre, and research a chosen area of the industry and use your work placement experience to inform your studies.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at grade 4 (C) and above, including English and maths

A Level 3 qualification in Music

Work experience opportunities

Our tutors and work experience team will be on hand to help you gain practical work experience through placements and live projects.

English and Maths

English and maths are important skills for musicians. We will help you to achieve a qualification in both if you do not already hold one, as well as help you to develop your existing skills.

You will explore maths through the development of technical language in music and using ratios when you develop sound editing and design. You will also learn about language arrangement, as well as improve your communication in written work.

Where can I progress?

Upon successful completion of this course, you can Progress onto a higher education qualification, either in music / music business or some non-music related degrees. Alternatively, you can get a job role in events.
