Supported Internships

At Carlisle College we work closely with Right2Work to help provide supported internships to a small number of students each year.

Supported internships prepare young people with learning disabilities for paid employment by:

    1. Supporting them to develop the skills valued by employers
    2. Enabling them to demonstrate their value in the workplace
    3. Developing confidence in their own abilities to perform successfully at work

Carlisle College Student Kieron Huddart explains what a supported internship is and some of the benefits he discovered through his own experience on placement...

Advice Sessions

The best way to find out about life at Carlisle College is to attend one of our open days and advice sessions. These events are a great opportunity for you to speak to course tutors about everything that the college has to offer. In addition, each year we offer a Quiet Advice Session, this session is aimed at those with additional needs who are more comfortable in a quiet environment. Future dates are to be confirmed. We are also able to offer a quiet enrolment session for those students who would benefit from this.

Additional Support

Students with a learning or other disability will, following an assessment of their needs, be supported on their programmes in a number of different ways.

At Carlisle College we have a dedicated Learning Support transition team who are here to help in any way they can to ensure a smooth transition from School/Alternative Provision to College.

You can find out more about the additional support available at Carlisle College and how we can help with transitions here
