Site Carpentry and Joinery Apprenticeship

• Candidates require Level 1 Maths and English (equivalent to GCSE grade 3(D) or above)

Upon successful completion of this course, you will achieve a Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard in Carpentry and Joinery.

• Induction on Health, safety and welfare in the workplace
• Developing knowledge and understanding on health & safety and legislation
• Developing knowledge and understanding & use of basic Handtools & Power tools
• Developing knowledge on Risk Assessments & Method statements
• First Aid training
• How to use personal protective equipment
• Developing knowledge and understanding of how to access site documents, and communication on site.
• Developing knowledge and understanding of electrical tools and regulations and storage of equipment.
• How to prepare use of store and maintain hand tools including tool limitations and sharpening techniques.
• Developing knowledge of manual handling
• Characteristics of different types of timber
• Learning how to read different types of plans and drawing information
• Understanding how to communicate in the workplace
• Understand the construction of foundations
• Estimating materials
• Developing all knowledge and skills aspects of first fix joinery
• Develop all knowledge and skills aspects of second-fix joinery
• Develop all knowledge and skills aspects of structural carcassing joinery
• EPA Preparation for knowledge/practical & professional discussion

• Group work

On successful completion of this course, you can become a Site Carpenter or Architectural Joiner, or progress to Level 3.

Individuals who have not yet achieved a Level 2 in English and/or Maths will be taught this alongside their course to work towards achieving their Level 2, enabling you to progress your career in the future.

For those who have achieved their Maths & English at Level 2, these skills are embedded within course content.

Your employer will pay you Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage as a minimum, in line with national minimum wage regulations. Your rate of pay will be agreed with your employer.
