Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician (Light Vehicle) Apprenticeship

Upon successful completion of this course you will achieve a Level 3 Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician (Light Vehicle) Apprenticeship Standard

• Skills and behaviours - based on customer care and wider work environment
• Induction and foundation skills - based on workshop health & safety
• Routine service and general inspection procedures
• Vehicle air, fuel, ignition, cooling, lubrication and exhaust systems
• Alternative fuel principles and air conditioning certification
• Intermediate diagnosis and repair of electrical & sensor faults
• Complex diagnose/repair of standard brakes, steering, suspension with modern techniques
• Complex systems understanding/repair on major engine & transmission components 

• Group work & tutorials
• Practical workshops
• Theory sessions

• Progress reviews attended by employer and College representative
• End point assessment
  • 2x online knowledge based exams
  • Portfolio of evidence (including 10 job write-ups)

This standard has been designed to be recognised by relevant Professional Engineering Institutions and successful apprentices can apply for the appropriate level of professional registration. (EngTech). 

No formal Maths & English study is required for apprentices who have met the entry requirements for this apprenticeship, although Maths & English skills are embedded within course content.

Your employer will pay you Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage as a minimum, in line with national minimum wage regulations. Your rate of pay will be agreed with your employer.
