Carlisle College Celebrates Student Success at 2026 Awards Ceremony
Carlisle College proudly celebrated the achievements of its students at the 2026 Student Awards, held on Thursday 11 June. The event brought together learners, staff, families and employers for a memorable evening recognising dedication, resilience and outstanding performance across all curriculum areas.
The celebration began with a warm welcome from Principal Sarah McGrath, who praised students for their commitment and determination throughout the academic year. Guests were also inspired by a series of speakers, including former Carlisle College student Rachel Carr, now a personal trainer at event sponsor BMPT, who shared her journey from college to career. Sam Small and Ruby Turnbull from main sponsor Eden View Care also addressed the audience, highlighting the importance of supporting future talent within the local community.
The awards showcased the breadth of talent across the College, with a wide range of categories recognising both academic achievement and personal progress. Among the special awards presented on the evening, Caylee Cunningham received the Distance Travelled Award, while Robert (Rab) Wilson was named Adult Learner of the Year. Kit Maddison was recognised for their contribution through the Work Experience and Student Volunteer Award.
Outstanding Achievement Awards were presented across all subject areas, celebrating excellence in disciplines including Business, Art & Design, Media, Performing Arts, Early Years, Health & Social Care, STEM, Construction and many more.

The evening’s highest accolade, Carlisle College Student of the Year, was awarded to Julian Nightingale in recognition of exceptional achievement and contribution to college life.
The College extends its sincere thanks to the sponsors whose generous support made the evening possible. Guests also enjoyed entertainment provided by talented music students, alongside hospitality prepared by the College’s catering learners, showcasing the practical skills and professionalism of Carlisle College students.
Speaking after the event, Principal Sarah McGrath commented on the importance of celebrating student success and recognising the hard work that goes into achieving these milestones. The awards evening not only highlighted academic excellence but also the determination, resilience and ambition demonstrated by students throughout their studies.
