As part of our continued commitment to providing learners with industry-leading facilities and equipment, Carlisle College has invested in 12 brand-new Migatronic welders for the Engineering department. The state-of-the-art equipment was purchased through our long-term partner, Thomas Graham and Sons Ltd, Cumbria’s largest steel stockholder and industrial supplies merchant.
Ian Smith, a specialist trainer from Migatronic, held a training session this week with Carlisle College tutors, along with welding specialist Nathan Sturrock from Thomas Graham and Sons Ltd to showcase the new equipment. Migatronic, is a world-wide industry leader in welding equipment and machinery, and the purchase of the new equipment was a significant investment for the engineering department.
Investment in industry-leading equipment means that our students can gain first-hand practical experience that will afford them with the skills and knowledge they need to be ready for the workplace. With the 12 new welders, a combination of MIG, and TIG units, students will have the opportunity to learn using equipment that has intelligent current control and precision, increased efficiency, and intelligent gas control, resulting in lower gas consumption.
