Microsoft PowerPoint - Beginner Pathway

This is a week-long evening course that runs at various points throughout the year.

Block One Dates: 12th March - 19th March 2026

Location: Carlisle College Campus

• Learners may be required to complete an Initial Assessment.
• The purpose being identification of starting points to tailor learning plans.  

Upon successful completion of this, you will achieve Microsoft Office Suite accredited in PowerPoint.

• Create, save, and manage files in Microsoft PowerPoint
• Enter and format text, slides, and data
• Create simple presentations
• Use basic tables, images, and formulas

The course is delivered through a variety of engaging and supportive teaching methods, designed to help learners build confidence, practical skills, and successful workplace behaviours.

• Hands-on, practical learning activities
• Tutor-led demonstrations and guidance
• Real-life workplace examples and tasks
• Access to study materials to support independent practice

Assessment is designed to be supportive and practical, helping you build confidence as you learn.

• Practical tasks and activities completed during sessions
• Tutor observation and feedback throughout the course
• Ongoing assessment to track progress and support achievement
• Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) exams to demonstrate your skills 

This course supports progression by helping you develop valuable workplace skills and increase confidence using Microsoft Office.
