Carlisle College took part in this year's National Fitness Day on Wednesday 18th September.
National Fitness Day is an annual campaign by UKActive that highlights the role physical activity plays across the UK, helping to raise awareness of its importance in assisting us to lead healthier lifestyles. It is the UK's biggest celebration of health and fitness.
Carlisle College took part for the first time this year, and we encouraged staff and students to get involved in fitness activities across campus and consider the positive impact it can have on your physical and mental health and overall well-being.
Colleagues and students took part in a range of activities throughout the day in their course groups to get those all-important points to be top of the leaderboard.
The day was a huge success, as 159 students and staff were able to complete a total of 238.5 miles of walking around Rickerby Park. The competition got heated between courses, with staff and students taking part in a range of activities from a stationary bike relay, planking, standing long jumps, hand grip tests, alternate wall throws, and much more.
However, Sport took the lead over lunchtime when HE student Megan Donald completed a whopping 18 miles on the stationary bike to earn her team the final points.
A massive thank you goes out to everyone who got involved, but especially to our Sport, UPS, and Hospitality students and tutors who supported in running the event.
