This highly practical one year programme is a top-up course for those to have completed the Level 3 Diploma in Media Production and Technology, and those that are 18+ with relevant media experience.

You will develop on your skills and knowledge you have learned so far to explore factual film, drama production, pre and post-production, script writing, online interactive content and the production of music videos.

Within this filmmaking course, you will make at least 6 media artefacts in the first year alone.

This flexible course allows you to learn how to experiment, embrace failure as part of the creative process, learn what your are passionate about, and develop that in a direction of your choosing. In turn this also increases well-being and self-awareness.

You will be taught by highly experienced and qualified tutors, one of whom owns his own production company. There will also be opportunities to work on music or performing arts shows, as well as with external clients. In the past this has included the NHS, Cumbria Police, and the Victorian Candle Company.

Level 3 Diploma in Creative Media Production and Technology (Merit Grade)

You are 18+ with relevant experience and/or qualifications in this field

Work experience opportunities

Previous students have worked with clients as part of their work experience, in the past this has included the NHS, Cumbria Police, and the Victorian Candle Company.

You are encouraged to showcase your talent through live briefs and competitions.

English and Maths

If you do not hold English and/or maths GCSEs at grade 4 or above, you will be supported with dedicated lessons to help you achieve English and maths qualifications.

You will use your maths skills when setting up cameras, calculating lighting and working out box office sales and figures. Your English skills will be developed when creative writing, storyboarding and explaining concepts and ideas.

Where can I progress?

Upon successful completion of this course you can progress onto a related course at Carlisle College to further your education, progress on to higher education, or find employment in the media industry, or another industry in which your skills will also be valued.
