Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship

Upon successful completion of this course, you will achieve a Level 3 Apprenticeship in Assistant Accounting and the Level 3 AAT Diploma in Accounting.

You will develop your core knowledge to the level required of an Assistant Accountant in a wide range of areas that form the main principles of accounting, such as financial accounting, management accounting and taxation. You will be able to maintain financial records including accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll.  Throughout the course, you will learn the fundamentals of accounting software, alongside the principles of professional ethics and data security.

The skills required of an Assistant Accountant will also be developed both in college and the workplace. These include but are not limited to, assisting in responding to financial information queries, assisting with the production of accurate financial information for the preparation of accounts and developing and maintaining effective working relationships with stakeholders.

Finally, the behaviours required of an Assistant Accountant will be reinforced and promoted to the apprentice. This involves the abilities to be ethical and professional, to be organised with an attention to detail and to be able to use their professional judgement.

  • Finance Accounting: Preparing Financial Statements (FAPS)

• End point assessment
  • Knowledge based exam
  • Portfolio of evidence
  • Professional discussion/interview

As well as ensuring full competency as an Assistant Accountant, this standard provides the foundation for progression into a number of career paths in the accounting sector including Audit Trainee, Corporate Recovery Analyst, Credit Controller or Tax Accountant.

You can progress to a Level 4 Professional Accountant Apprenticeship at Carlisle College.

No formal Maths & English study is required for apprentices who have met the entry requirements for this apprenticeship, although Maths & English skills are embedded within course content.

Your employer will pay you Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage as a minimum, in line with national minimum wage regulations. Your rate of pay will be agreed with your employer.
