Do you want to learn through creating, have access to industry standard resources and work side by side with tutors who will nurture your creativity so you can become the best version of your artistic self, to then further progress into the weird and wonderful world of Art and Design?
If you need advice and assistance to develop a good knowledge within the Arts, the Level 3 Diploma in Creative Practice: Art, Design and Communication may be for you.
By introducing you to both Art and Design, you’ll be able to make an informed decision as to which pathway you’re more inclined to travel down. In both areas you will delve headfirst into developing your working practice, this understanding of your working practice and what can be achieved within both Art and Design through experimentation of materials and mediums, will ultimately guide you into one of the creative sectors many roles; thriving as a stop motion animator, curating gallery spaces and exhibitions, illustrating story books for children, photographing wildlife for the National Geographic, designing runway fashion for catwalks worldwide… wherever you want to end up, this course can begin to take you there.
Initially you will be introduced to a plethora of practical skills and techniques through making and doing. The tutors will guide you through this extremely exploratory stage, experimenting with materials, processes, technical skills and more. This is a very fast paced time in your diploma where you’ll be expected to really get on board with the creative process and be open to learning new approaches for creating work. You will build confidence with materials and mediums you never knew you could, and this will ultimately guide you onto the next stage, developing creative practice. Developing your creative practice means that you get the opportunity to really explore, in depth how creative skills can be applied in the creative sector. This will then take you onto the third and final unit, responding to a set brief. In this unit, you will be assessed on all the learning you have developed throughout the qualification, by responding to a set vocational brief. You will demonstrate your ability to develop a project proposal, generate ideas and produce and present outcomes that respond to a set brief. You will also be expected to demonstrate practical skills to then realise a creative outcome, you will reflect on the creative process and contemplate how successful you have been in meeting the brief, again, this will all be assessed. All creative practice students have access to print making facilities, photography and film spaces, specialist lighting studios, theatre and production resources, audio and visual editing software and of course the invaluable knowledge gained by tutors. Students are expected to complete 35 hours of work experience. Students are aided in finding work experience through specialist officers.
