Our Courses

This qualification provides pathways into the sector for school leavers or anyone considering a career in Health and Social Care or Childcare.

The course has an optional placement element and this will take place in the third term in either a Health and Social Care or a Children's and Young People's setting, therefore, you will gain hands on experience within a professional setting.

It will provide an opportunity for learners to develop knowledge about the wider sector before they decide whether working in the sector is for them and gain information to make decisions about career progression. This Course has been designed to develop the skills you need to work in Health and Social Care or Children’s and Young Peoples settings. Vocational units prepare you for employment and develop your subject knowledge. Maths and English classes are a vital part of this course as these lessons will help to develop your maths and literacy skills needed for work.

Level 1 Certificate in Skills for Employment and Personal Development

Functional skills, or GCSE in Maths and English.

The course is assessed via assignments and portfolio work. You need to achieve passes for each assignment to pass your vocational course. You will also be required to sit a maths and English GCSE or functional skills exam.

Learners will be assessed through written assignments, observations and presentations

• 2 GCSEs grades at 2/1 (E-G), including Maths and English.

Level 2 Pathway to Care, specialising in either Health and Social Care or Early Years

NVQ Level 2 - via apprenticeship scheme or through employment

Employment in a variety of work settings.
