Preparation for Public Service – Level 2

• 4 GCSEs at grade 5 or above

• GCSE grade 3 or above in English or maths

You will also be invited to meet our teaching team before starting the course to participate in a diagnostic assessment which will ensure the course is the right fit for you.

Upon successful completion of this course, you will receive a Level 2 BTEC Certificate in Preparation for Public Service.

• Public service skills and support for the community: Learners develop public service skills and learn how to apply and review these when supporting the community and individual groups within society
• Employment in uniformed services: Learners will study the career pathways in the uniformed public services including the roles and responsibilities and the skills needed to success fully take part in the recruitment process
• Health and fitness for entry into the uniformed public services: Learners study the major body systems and the different lifestyle factors. They will explore the different public service health and fitness requirements and participate in the different fitness tests.
• Activities and teamwork for public services: Learners study how teams are built and leaders develop through training. They examine theories and participate in team building activities as well as learning the importance of leadership.
• Driving in the public services: Learners will investigate the requirements of pre- and post-test driving, explore traffic offences as well as driver attitude concerning road safety

Our tutors and work experience team will be on hand to help you find relevant placements.

English and maths is taught alongside this course to help students enhance their skills if they were not able to achieve a GCSE grade 4 or above previously.

The course will help you build on your skills in a practical setting. You will learn how to use orientation and time, and improve your written and verbal skills.

Upon successful completion of this course you can progress onto one of our Level 3 courses. There is also the opportunity to enter employment or to undertake an apprenticeship.
