Want to become a bricklayer and gain employment in the construction industry? This bricklaying course could be for you!

Throughout your time on this bricklaying course, you will develop the skills necessary to repair walls, refurbish structures in line with construction plans and work as part of a construction team.

This is an excellent springboard to gaining an apprenticeship in bricklaying as at key points in this course, you will have input from employers. This involvement in the delivery and / or assessment of qualifications enriches your learning, raises the credibility of the qualification in the eyes of employers and furthers collaboration between the learning and skills sector and industry.

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs at grade 3 (D) or equivalent
Mature students with relevant experience and/or other qualifications may be eligible
You will also need to demonstrate the ability to achieve a Level 1 in English and maths as part of a programme of study

What will I achieve?

Upon successful completion of this course you will achieve a Level 2 Diploma in Bricklaying.

Work experience opportunities

Students studying a level 2 bricklaying course at Carlisle College will have the opportunity to benefit from employer-set projects. We work with employers to develop industry-standard projects and provide students with a platform to showcase their skills to local employers.

English and Maths

Bricklayers need core English and maths skills to be able to provide estimates, mix ratios of materials and take measurements.

English and maths will be embedded into practical and theory sessions, reinforcing communication, information and calculations.

Where can I progress?

On successful completion of this Level 2 Diploma, you may progress onto a bricklaying apprenticeship in industry.
