This programme of study is offered to learners age 16-19 who have previously experienced difficulties within mainstream education due to behavioural, social and emotional related issues, as a stepping stone into FE.
This course will enable learners to develop Employability, Personal development and Life skills. Furthermore, the qualification will focus on developing positive and appropriate behaviour which will ready learners to be employed and/or to progress onto the next level.
This course will also help to Develop English and Math’s skills, at Entry level and/or Functional skill Level 1.
An Initial assessment booklet ‘All about me’ will be completed by all the learners at the start of the year. This is a written Q&A booklet with questions regarding their likes, interests and dislikes. The questions also touch on their personal experience at school and questions in relation to soft skills. In-house and external work experience opportunities will be offered to the learners to help them build confidence and to gain experience within their chosen sector. External Visitors and demonstrations in relation to learners’ interests. Trips will be offered to learners throughout the year in relation to their chosen sector. Regular Visits from the Careers advisor to help with C.V building and interview technique.

You will also be required to sit a maths and English GCSE or functional skills exam.
A variety of teaching methods are used, including practical sessions, group discussions, and a mixture of individual and small group projects.
This will be discussed at interview. The course is assessed via assignments and portfolio work. You need to achieve passes for each assignment to pass your vocational course.
