About the Course

Would you like to start an exciting new career in the Health and Humanities sector?

Our popular Access to HE: Diploma in Heath Studies course is a nationally recognised qualification for adult students, which will provide you with a route to university.

Prior to that, we are offering a pre-access programme to help you get back into education and help you decide if this is the right route for you. Our pre-access course will give prospective students the skill set to progress onto a Level 3 access course and will help develop your confidence so that you feel able to take on further study.

Course Content

Variety of different units associated with the health & humanities pathway from Health studies to Professional skills in healthcare. Other units to aid your education journey will also be utilised such as research skills, career planning and writing skills. All of the units studied will provide you with experience and knowledge to further your education/employment and preparation for Level 3.

  • Human Biology
  • Profession Skills in Health Care
  • Health Psychology
  • Undertaking Group Work
  • Health Promotion
  • Undertaking a Research Project
  • Personal Career Planning
  • Introducing Health Studies
  • Deliver a Presentation
On Completion:

Extra Studies:

Applicants will also have the opportunity to study and sit both (or either) Functional Skills Maths and English at Level 2.

Method of Study

Learning will take place in college 2 and a half days per week. Tutors will guide you through all learning and work that is involved.

Method of Assessment

Coursework based using a range of different approaches such as: written pieces, posters, reports and written questions that will all come together to form a portfolio of evidence

Entry Requirements
  • There are no formal requirements for this course
  • An interest / desire to go into the health sector would be beneficial as would already having maths and / or English at grade 4 (C) and above, or their equivalent.
  • Please note that entry requirements and course offer can be subject to change at any time.
What Can I Do Next?

Learners will gain the knowledge and skills required to progress into employment within the health and social sciences on to a related Level 3 learning programme e.g., L3 Access to HE Health Diploma.

The qualification could lead to progression onto:

An appropriate Level 3 Access to Higher Education Diploma

Or

A Level 3 Apprenticeship within the Health Sciences
