Engineering – Level 3

• 5 GCSEs at grade 4 (C) and above, including English, maths and science/physics

or

• Level 2 engineering vocational qualification and Level 2 qualifications in English and maths

Scottish equivalent

• 4 National 5s at grade C and above including English and Maths/Applications of Maths

or

• SCQF Level 5 engineering vocational qualification and Level 5 qualifications in English and Maths

Upon successful completion of this course you will achieve a Level 3 National Foundation Diploma in Engineering.

• Engineering principles
• Delivering engineering processes as a team
• Engineering product design and manufacture
• Applied commercial and quality principles in engineering
• CAD in engineering
• Static mechanical principles
• Additive manufacturing processes

• Practical studies in a fit-for-purpose workshop
• Theoretical studies in a classroom environment

• Practical observations
• Written and online assignments

All students will be required to complete a minimum of 35 hours work placement. 

Engineering relies heavily on English and maths and both subjects will be embedded into your programme, through producing reports, calculating weight distribution, ratios and formulae.

On successful completion of this course, you can progress to university study, HNC programmes in Engineering and apprenticeship in the Engineering sector.
